En la antigua casa de su tío, todo en tonos sobrios, destacaba una habitación. Todas las paredes estaban pintadas de rojo. Pintura vieja, aparente en varias capas desconchadas. Ese contraste fuerte, vibrante, despertó el interés por lo diferente, por lo colorido, por lo vibrante. Su familia, toda de Italia, limítrofe con Austria, siempre ha estado muy ligada al arte. Su tío, Enrico De Cillia, siempre se dedicó a la pintura, llegando a ser conocido como el “pintor del Karstic”, por haber elegido como inspiración los paisajes líricos de Treppo Carnico, su tierra natal.

Con el ADN de la pintura en la familia, a R.Copiz siempre le gustó pintar. Paralelamente a la escuela, comenzó a estudiar dibujo a los 10 años, dedicándose a las representaciones artísticas de todos aquellos que estuvieran dispuestos a posar para un retrato. En los días de viento, recogía las grandes hojas que caían de las palmeras de la Rambla de Pocitos para transformarlas en expresivas esculturas.

Con poco más de veinte años ingresó a la Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes de Montevideo, Uruguay, donde perfeccionó su técnica y desarrolló el gusto por lo abstracto, concibiendo la obra de arte como una vía de comunicación entre el artista y el mundo: una verdad invisible. hecho visible. Las obligaciones adultas, las ganas de emprender y el ritmo frenético de la vida moderna frenaron su producción artística, pero nunca detuvieron su ímpetu creativo, la misión de absorber toda la belleza, allí donde se encontrara. Ahora, en un nuevo momento, R.Copiz se ha redescubierto y reinventado.
